“Knowledge comes, but wisdom lingers.” - Lord Alfred Tennyson
Wisdom is acquired through time and experience. At Web Ahoy, we’ve been in the website business since
2002. That’s over 9 web years, which equals 49 human years due to the fast pace of technology.
We’ve seen many businesses come and go, along with their websites. We’ve made our own mistakes and
seen how hard it is to stay afloat in the rough waters of the World Wide Web.
At this point, we believe we are in a good position to offer good advice. We’ll post useful and interesting
bits regularly on our Blog, Facebook and Twitter page, and summarize them below. Please subscribe, and
send your comments and criticism. We still have a lot to learn, and we welcome your input.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
SEO involves the tweaking of your website in order to make it easier to be found in Google and other search engines. The search engines
are like an old library card index. People will not find your book (website) if it is not indexed correctly.
Which words and phrases are people using to search for your business? The answer may surprise you, since people don’t necessarily think
like you do. Use this tool to find out: Google Keyword Research Tool
On your website, do not offer your cheapest service or lowest priced item only. Offer high priced alternatives so that your client will
have a point of reference. This is called the Principle of Contrast. For example, if a cruise line only shows the lowest price for a ship
cabin, there is no incentive to buy a higher priced cabin. If they also show the exorbitant price of the luxurious suite on the top deck,
then anything in-between looks like a bargain.
